First off, welcome to the new site! I hope you like it as much as I do. Many thanks to Ste and everyone at PixelTrick for a fantastic job!

For the huge news though, you’ll have to check out the media clips on my website. As you’ll be able to see from the before and after, life has taken a pretty dramatic turn for the better recently, because I’ve effectively stopped shaking!
For those who don’t know, for about 17 years I’ve had to put up with a pretty vicious body tremor. Then just a few months ago I tried some new medication. I had to build up the dose slowly, but once I got up to the full whack it had, literally, an over night effect that I can only describe as miraculous, as you’ll be able to see!

It's not a 100% cure, there are still times when the tremor creeps back in and I have to see the consultant again to see what comes next, but right now I’d say its about 90% and I’ll definitely have some of that!

A couple of people have asked me if this sudden switch back to “normality” is scary which surprised me. Thinking about it I suppose I can see what they mean, but I really haven’t thought about it in those terms. I’m far too busy having fun with stuff like walking to the shops in flip flops, wet shaving and enjoying meals in restaurants! I’m still learning day by day how this has changed my life and I’m like a little kid in a toy shop!

I can tell you what it’s done to my stand up set though: it’s demolished a lot of excellent material! There were some great lines tied in with the shaking that I really loved to deliver, but now those old friends are gone. Still, it has to be said that if it comes down to a choice between the lines and not shaking, believe me, not shaking is going to win every time! Certainly I spent years building up my set and getting comfortable on stage with the shaking so now it’s gone there is an element of having to start over again, but its far from being back to square one. I know there’ll be plenty of new lines, because, after all, I’m a funny guy!

Which brings me on to my first one man show at this year’s Edinburgh Festival. The title, decided before modern medical science worked its miracle, is “Unshakeable” and it was to be the story of my life living with the tremor. But now, with around two months to go, that plan is out the window and I find myself having to come up with an entirely new script!
I’m sticking with the same title though, because I’m determined to make the very most of this broad new horizon and I think “Unshakable” fits that challenge just as well. I’m not phased by these events in the slightest! I’m running with it, because I’ve realized that the rest just isn’t worth worrying about! It’s a charge at full speed into the dazzling headlights of opportunity and the story of this remarkable transition is going to be the new Edinburgh show.

In terms of my regular stand up set, well, suffice to say, I’ve been writing like a bastard. Some of it is flying really well and some of it isn’t. In fact, some of it has died on its arse! Still, when you’ve got to build a new set and you don’t have a lot of time you have to take a few chances. You’ll be happy to know though that it’s all coming along rather well and anyway, crashing can be funny too! In the words of Conan the Barbarian, “That which does not kill us makes us stronger!” So watch out world, I’m coming!

Mate, it's Nick from Oz (Japan days). I sent you an E-mail recently. There was something "significant" in it. Did you get it or how best can I contact you?
